Bandang Amelia talk about the playful story behind “GWAPO,” making music from real-life experiences, and bringing their songs to more listeners.

1. What inspired “GWAPO,” and is there a lyric or moment in it that means the most to you?

Bandang Amelia

Our song “GWAPO” was inspired by something very relatable, especially when it comes to love and relationships. Sometimes, we keep falling for the same type of person, even when we already know how the story might end!

It's a playful, cheeky song about how we sometimes blame everyone else for our heartbreaks, when deep down, we know we're also responsible for our choices.

One of our favorite moments is the chorus, where the song humorously points out that we keep complaining about heartbreak, yet we still fall for the good-looking ones!

2. For someone discovering your music through MSR, what would you want them to know about your sound and the stories you tell?

Bandang Amelia

Bandang Amelia is an OPM pop-rock/alternative-rock band that has been making original music since 2017.

Our songs are inspired by real-life experiences, especially love, heartbreak, relationships, and the emotions we sometimes find difficult to express.

We love combining relatable Filipino lyrics with catchy melodies and the energy of a live band. Some of our songs are emotional and heartfelt, while others, like “GWAPO,” show our fun and playful side.

We want listeners to feel that there's always a Bandang Amelia song they can relate to.

3. What's coming next for you, and where can MSR listeners follow your journey or catch you live?

We're currently focused on promoting “GWAPO,” our debut single under Viva Records, while continuing to create original music and explore more opportunities to perform live.
